Carbonisation Process Simulator

Developed together with Furnace Engineering the carbon fibre process simulator is a bench-scale research tool which simulates the processing environment within oxidation ovens and carbonisation furnaces. This allows a wide range of experimentation into carbon fibre conversion processes using only a small amount of fibre material.

Processing capabilities include the following:

  • Oxidation in heated air, with temperatures up to 350°C
  • Carbonisation in nitrogen, with temperatures up to 1400°C
  • Programmable profiles for temperatures, gas flows and tensions
