New technology

As a world-leading academic and industrial research facility Carbon Nexus is continually developing a range of new technologies for the synthesis, production and implementation of carbon fibre and carbon composites.

As an open-access research centre owned and operated by Deakin University we aim to make as much of our research openly available as possible, within the constraints of Australia’s export control laws.

Our public-funded academic research is published via a range of peer-reviewed academic journals and presented at global academic symposia and conferences.

Our public-funded collaborative research is also published and presented at symposia and conferences.

In some cases we submit significant technological breakthroughs for patent protection and make them available to the industry via licencing arrangements.

Technologies developed as the result of contract-based research arrangements are generally owned by the contract parties.
